Family Guidance Centers, Inc. is a substance use treatment organization offering comprehensive behavioral health programs, including medication-assisted recovery, to individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) and co-occurring mental health conditions.

With over 25 years of experience and multiple locations across the state, we provide a full continuum of care for substance use disorder, from prevention and harm reduction to treatment and recovery support. Our programs integrate FDA-approved medications for the treatment of substance use disorders, including all three medications approved to treat opioid use disorder (buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone).

We strive to meet our patients where they are, bringing care outside clinic walls via telehealth and mobile services and ensuring patients have access to harm reduction resources and education. We are located at 18 locations across Illinois.

Take the next step towards recovery. Our care team is ready to answer your questions and help you access the services you need.

ACCESS TO CARE

At Family Guidance Centers, no one is refused assistance because of financial limitations or citizenship status.

We understand that seeking help is a crucial first step, and we're committed to walking with you on your recovery journey.

Telehealth

We offer telehealth counseling and support services to all patients, individualized to each treatment plan. We also use telehealth to connect patients facing transportation or other barriers with their counselors and care team for appointments. Additionally, we operate the statewide MAR NOW helpline (833-234-6343), which provides 24/7 immediate access to medications for alcohol and opioid use disorder via telehealth.

Transportation

We provide transportation support to all our patients who need it, to connect them with their support team and care providers. This includes Uber Health rides to substance use treatment facilities, bus passes, and partnerships with transportation providers for patients who require consistent and reliable transportation to our clinics.

Community-Based Mobile Services

We bring harm reduction and treatment services directly to communities via mobile vans and outreach teams. These units offer naloxone and other harm reduction supplies, drug-checking services, peer support, and immediate treatment through Medication-Assisted Recovery (MAR).

Walk-In Treatment

We understand that timing is crucial when someone is ready for treatment. That's why we accept walk-in patients at all our sites, with no pre-scheduled appointments required to start or continue treatment. Our internal processes are designed to ensure walk-in patients receive immediate attention and necessary treatment.

Co-Location

We've pioneered an innovative co-location model in Chicago in partnership with UI Health. Our outpatient methadone clinic operates within the University of Illinois Mile Square Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) where patients receive a range of primary care services alongside substance use treatment.

Inclusive Care

We work to ensure that all patients receive care, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance coverage. For uninsured patients, we provide immediate treatment services while our case managers work with them to obtain appropriate insurance coverage. No one is turned away due to financial constraints.
