The Hub and Spoke Model is recognized as an evidence-based regional approach for expanding access to medication assisted treatment (MAT) to people who suffer from opioid use disorders living in areas of the state with limited treatment resources. Through a State Opioid Response (SOR) grant* from the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (DHS-SUPR), Family Guidance Center serves a hub in central Illinois, identifying and collaborating with spoke sites, such as primary health clinics, to increase the number of locations providing access to the medications used to treat opioid use disorder. This approach is designed to coordinate OUD treatment with medical care and counseling, supported by community health staff and services, and effectively treat the whole person as they make their way along the path to recovery. *These services are supported by DHS-SUPR as part of the Illinois State Opioid Response grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (TI-18-015).
