Family Guidance Center’s Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs are designed for individuals who need structured support but are able to incorporate lifestyle changes into their daily lives in order achieve their recovery goals. Following a comprehensive assessment, patients work with their care team to develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs and strengths. Treatment plans may address additional issues, such as concurrent physical or mental health issues, domestic violence, legal issues, and employment. As part of FGC’s outpatient services, patients learn about the disease process of addiction and participate in highly structured and highly focused treatment sessions, including individual and group counseling. Individual counseling (both in-person and via telehealth) provides support and feedback to help patients identify and address the underlying causes of addiction, including traumatic life events and co-occurring mental health disorders. Through the use of evidence-based practices, individual counseling helps patients recognize and cope with the emotional and environmental triggers that may lead to continued use and threaten long-term recovery. In addition to individual counseling, group counseling is an ongoing and reliable resource for many FGC patients. It provides potential benefits in promoting social support, reducing isolation and stigma, developing effective communication and interpersonal skills, and practicing recovery-oriented coping strategies with other group members. Along with (individual and group) counseling, case management services, toxicology testing and medication-assisted treatment are utilized to support FGC patients in meeting their recovery goals.
